Trevor Zinck doesn't want to leave

Trevor Zinck will have to leave the legislature kicking and screaming. Premier Darrell Dexter says he will have Zinck kicked out if he does not choose to resign his seat in the legislature himself. Zinck, a former NDP causes member pleaded guilty earlier this week in a case of breach of trust for taking advantage of his constituency allowance. He was one of four politicians who were charged after an investigation into constituency allowance spending early 2011. House Speaker Gordie Gosse and deputy premier Frank Corbett are scheduled to meet today to discuss what should measures should be taken in this prickly case.

Rash of Break and Enters in Halifax Surburb

Police are looking for the Public’s help in identifying who is behind a number of break and enters in Dartmouth. Police say ten homes have been broken into in the main Street area as well as Woodlawn and Mount Edwards roads. Officers say that the suspects make sure no one is home by knocking on the front door and if no on answers they break in, steal valuables then leave through a back door. The Break-ins occurred during the daytime hours in all cases.

New details on man charged with second degree murder in Halifax

50-year-old Paul Trevor Calnen of Hammonds Plains has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the disappearance of a missing woman in March.

34-year-old Reita Jordan was last seen by friends in Halifax on March 19th. Neighbors of Calnen say that Jordan was living with him in his home in Hammonds Plains but that Calnen said that she took off with another man.

Police say Calnen was arrested on Brunskwick Street in the city Monday afternoon around 2:35 pm and appeared in court for an arraignment yesterday.

His next court appearance is set for July 22nd. He will remain in custody until then.

They are back on the field today in Colorado playing game 3 of their interleague series. Pavel Datsyuk and the Detroit Red Wings have come to terms on a 3 year deal worth 22.5 million dollars. Datsyuk can’t sign the contract just yet... He will have to wait until July 5th since he was entering the last year of his current deal.
